Welcome to one more error fixing post :-D It happens that we might have created an article with a certain Article Type and want to change it later for some reasons. E.g when I started configuring the scenario in the IDES system, I created many articles with material type HAWA. But later I created my own article type WRTR - Woolworths Trading Goods. So I wanted to transfer all my earlier created articles of type HAWA to my newly created WRTR. This is a simple activity in SAP Materials Management.

Use the transaction code - MMAM to initiate the Article Type change. System carries out the feasibility and warns that you are changing the Article Type of the material. You can override this an "Enter" and the aricle type gets changed. However the catch is that the Article ID of the types should match among the original article type and the newly proposed one. If they don't match, you'll not be able to change the article type. What is an Article Type ID and how it can be changed is shown in the video below.
